What makes our Flamencos gladioli so special?

The shapes of life - Allow life to shape you the way the Flamencos gladiolus shapes its petals. With their wavy edges and exceptionally sturdy petals, the elegantly fringed flowers are the hallmark of these gladioli, which were named for the Flamenco dance.

Flamencos: more than just a fringe

The days when gladioli only came in yellow, red, and orange are long gone. The palette of available colors has grown exponentially, and so have the options when it comes to shapes and color combinations. Several other flower breeds have fringed varieties, such as tulips. The fringed edges are commonly referred to as “crispa,” a term that reminds us of crispy, notched edges.

At Forever Bulbs, we call our wavy-edged, fringed-flowered gladioli Flamencos. Not just because of their shape, but also because their color palette matches the Flamenco style.

The Flamenco dance is an art form that showcases the spectrum of human emotion, from heartfelt happiness to intense mourning. And the passion expressed by the movements is matched by the passion we put into the development and breeding of these extraordinary gladioli.

The art of breeding

As cut flowers, Flamencos are a new kid on the block. Our breeders have developed the Flamencos’ characteristics from dry-sale varieties to make them perfect for sale as cut flowers. In the summer of 2023, we introduced our first Flamencos gladioli in cooperation with our Gladz growers. They were an instant hit!

As of 2024, Flamencos are available exclusively from De Ridder Bloemen- en boloembollenkwekerij in Noordwijkerhout: Carolien de Ridder | 06 29463583 | info@ridderbloembollen.nl

With our Flamencos, we wanted to create something unique that would let growers, exporters, and florists set themselves apart. The learnings from our breeding team and the valuable feedback from the market has allowed us to introduce several new Flamencos types in 2024. They are still only produced in small numbers; however, demand is high. All the more reason for us to broaden and deepen the Flamencos range!
